Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 22, Day 1, Sunday, 24th May, 2026 TOPIC: STUDY ON 2 KINGS 4: Death Is Inevitable (1)

TOPIC: STUDY ON 2 KINGS 4: Death Is Inevitable (1)

One Year Bible Reading:
2 Kings 13 - 15
John 10: 17 - 57

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Tim. 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

BIBLE READING:
2 kings 4:1.
"1. A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves”.

Thinking Point:
Physical death is a must, no one lives forever on earth.

To God alone be all adoration for all His benefits lavished upon us since the beginning of this year. He deserves our praise forevermore, Amen.

I welcome you to this week's devotion. This week, we will be digging out some lessons from the book of 2nd Kings chapter 4, and I pray that God will open our eyes and hearts to receive and even see beyond the letters in the chapter in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Our first lesson today is seen from verse one. It's a reminder that, no matter the security, wealth, position, power, title and anointing we have, we will all die some day. It doesn't matter how strong we may be, how highly connected we are, we can't escape death. No charm, anointing or secret cults can stop us from dying, death will surely come.

One of the late prophet's wives went to Prophet Elisha, the servant of God, and explained to him that her husband, who served diligently under Him, died and left her with a huge debt she can't afford to pay. She explained to the man of God how faithful and committed the man was. But with all his services, commitment and sacrifice, he died. That was a man who served God wholeheartedly to the extent that his wife was given attention by prophet Elisha, yet he died. How much more those who have no time for God and His service? Are you thinking of the day that death will come knocking? What will you be remembered for when the time comes? Will life after death speak for your family or speak against them? Nobody wants to hear about death but it's a debt we all need to pay. All our fathers of heroes died long ago and our present fathers in faith will also die one day regardless of their anointing. What about you and I, are we exempted, No. No matter the scriptures we know and quote there's a day that God assigned for you and I, but are we preparing for that day? What are our plans after our departure? We need to start thinking about it.

Take a deep breath; think of the way you are living and the result there after. I pray with you today, when the time comes knocking, we will be happy to leave this world with Joy in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
