TOPIC: HOW TO START: Start with What You Have (2)
One Year Bible Reading:
Nehemiah 7 - 8
Acts 13 : 1 - 12
MEMORY VERSE:
Colossians 3:23-2. (KJV)
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 17:40.
“And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.”
Thinking Point:
What you have is the key to what you need. Identify it and start with it.
The Psalmist says, “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us… Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.” Psalm 124:1-2, 6 KJV. We return all the glory to our God for every benefit we have received till date. To Him be all the glory forevermore, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
“How To Start” remains our focus. We began with, “Start Where You Are”: your present location is your starting point.
This morning we move further to say, “Start With What You Have.” God has placed a deposit in every person He created. No one is empty, and no one was created without uniqueness. The problem is, we either look away from it or look down on it.
Understand this: God doesn’t give fruits to start with, He gives seeds. Some eat the seed, some ignore it, and some despise it as nothing. Yet you have a seed deposited in you. Many compare their seed with others and neglect theirs. What you don’t appreciate will not yield results. What you don’t utilize will die, and what you don’t put to work will be taken away. The reason things are the way they are is because you have something yet to be discovered.
In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus told the parable of the kingdom: He gave seeds to three men, five, two, and one. The emphasis is in verse 15:
“And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; TO EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS SEVERAL ABILITY; and straightway took his journey.” Matthew 25:15 KJV.
What you have matches the ability God has developed in you. What you don’t discover and start with cannot grow to earn you more. You must start with that one seed to progress. No one climbs a tree from the top; you start from the bottom and move up gradually. Until you start with what you have, you cannot be promoted.
So, what do you have? What can you do with ease? What do you love doing without being compelled? What do people commend in you? Identify it and start using it to solve problems and help others. That skill you are good at, that training that brings you joy, that is the seed to start with. You have what to start with. You only need to identify it and apply it.
May the Holy Spirit open our eyes to identify what we have and start with it, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
God bless you and Good Morning.
