TOPIC: WHAT FAITH DOES: Wrought Righteousness (10)

One Year Bible Reading:
2 Chronicles 16 - 29
Acts 4: 1 - 33

MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 11:1.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

BIBLE READING:
Daniel 1:8
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Thinking Point:
Faith is the key to stand for righteousness in a world of cruelty.

It’s another weekend, which shows that God has been faithful. He made His wonders work in our favor, reminding us that we are His sons and daughters. From the depths of our hearts, regardless of how the week looked, let’s say to Him: “Father, I thank You for this weekend again. You deserve my praise.” God’s faithfulness isn’t measured by what you earned this week, but by His life that still remains in you. Thank Him for life.

Today our discussion moves to how faith was used to work righteousness by past heroes. Faith doesn’t end at getting our desires met by God. It goes beyond that. Like I said yesterday, it is to establish the kingdom of God here on earth. Faith pulls down strongholds. It showcases the existence and power of God wherever we are.

Let’s see how Daniel and his friends exercised this faith in their day. After Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, captured Judah, the king needed new workers—people with wisdom, knowledge, and royal lineage from Judah. So a decree was made to search among the captives for unblemished children of Judah with those qualities. Daniel and his friends were selected. Their walk of faith counted them among the chosen.

But Daniel and his friends went the extra mile to work righteousness in Babylon. They refused to defile themselves with the king’s meal. Why? Because those foods and drinks were dedicated to idols, and they could not defile themselves with them. Daniel and his friends asked to be tested for ten days, and it was granted. At the end, they were found fairer and wiser than those selected. That became the foundation of all the righteous acts of Daniel and his friends in Babylon. Daniel 1:5-12.

After this, they became a light to the nation and were ten times better than their peers. They shook the king with their walk of faith. They defied the king’s order for God’s order. They shut the mouths of lions, walked into a fiery furnace, and came out unburnt. They established righteousness in Babylon until the king bowed to Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, declaring their God the God of all kings. Daniel 2:46-47, 3:29.

With faith in God, we can work righteousness in this nation, in our environment, and in our homes. Until our individual faith grows enough to cause change in others’ lives and work righteousness, God’s will cannot be established. Our faith is the guarantee of our safety when we stand for God with righteous acts.

Can our faith establish righteousness in our domain? Do we walk in faith that moves others? Do people know us as faith carriers? In our workplace, is our faith speaking? In our worship centers, do we profess our faith as believers?

With faith, we shall work wonders and establish God’s will on earth, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Bless you and Good Morning.
