TOPIC: WHAT FAITH DOES: Subdued Kingdom (9)
One Year Bible Reading:
2 Chronicles 12 - 15
Acts 3: 1 - 26
MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 11:1.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
BIBLE READING:
Hebrews 11:32-33
“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions”
Thinking Point:
Faith is the key meant for subduing nations and authorities.
A man of faith is a man who can transform nations. We must build our faith individually before we can build others’ faith. Yesterday we talked about sharing the result of our faith in order to build others. When people recognize the level of your faith, they lean on you to grow theirs. They want to hear you to increase their faith.
When your faith becomes what others use to develop theirs, you are walking in line with God’s order. Elijah was a man who had built his faith to the level that kings were afraid of his name, so he could subdue nations and kingdoms. To get to this level, you must first build your faith, impact others through your faith, then you can speak to nations and kingdoms for God.
All our patriarchs were men of individual faith before they could affect their nations through their faith. The book of Hebrews talks much about our heroes who, through faith, subdued nations—starting from Noah, Abraham, Samson, Gideon, and so on. Faith is an instrument to subdue kingdoms that rise up against the will of God. We are in this world to conquer nations for God through faith.
Moses said in Deuteronomy 28:7:
“The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”
We are to become individuals who stand against anyone who will not submit to the authority of God, because we belong to the Almighty who rules through our faith. Elijah could face a king and say to him,
1 Kings 18:17-18:
“And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?
And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.”
Faith gives you the courage to face the truth and say it as it is. You don’t step into this level until you have grown your faith in the God you are standing for. Faith is meant to subdue evil rule in our lives, then in our homes and families, and to the nations. We can’t have faith and remain in hiding. No—faith propels one to speak the truth.
To subdue nations for God, we need a faith that has outgrown us and built other people. Until my faith and your faith grow, we cannot subdue nations and kingdoms. A growing faith is that faith which impacts others and creates space for God. Do everything to grow your faith and you will subdue nations.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
