TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT: Criteria To Receive Him (12)

MEMORY VERSE:
1 John 5:7.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
BIBLE READING:
John 3:5-6
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Thinking Point:
Being Born Again: The First Step to Receiving the Holy Spirit
It’s the first working day of the week. May the Lord renew our strength and lead us by His Spirit to accomplish the impossible this week and beyond, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
The Holy Spirit is for believers. Access to the Holy Spirit is free for all, but the key is giving your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Accepting Jesus Christ is the first step to enjoying the leading of the Holy Spirit. We cannot access the Holy Spirit without first accessing the Giver.
Jesus was speaking to the disciples who believed and stayed with Him during His earthly ministry when He said:
Luke 24:49
_“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”_
Without Jesus, you cannot access the Holy Spirit. The promise of Jesus was for those who had accepted Him as Lord and Savior.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a ruler who acknowledged the authority of Jesus. He came to Him at night and said:
John 3:2-3
_“The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”_
Accepting Jesus is what it means to be Born Again, and it gives you access to the Holy Spirit.
How to Be Born Again?
Romans 10:9-10
_“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”_
You become Born Again when you confess and repent of your sins, and believe that Jesus Christ died to save you from the world of darkness. This is the first step to accessing the Holy Spirit.
This morning, are you ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If yes, pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner. I confess and renounce my sins. Please forgive me and make me a new creature in You. I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that You are my Lord and Savior from today. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer wholeheartedly, you are saved. You are Born Again, because God is with you. From today, you belong to the household of God.
