Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 29, Day 5, Thursday, 16th July 2026 TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT: New Tongues (15)

TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT: New Tongues (15)

One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 1 - 6
Acts 24: 1 - 27

MEMORY VERSE:
1 John 5:7.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

BIBLE READING:
Acts 2:3-4
“And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Thinking Point:
Speaking in tongues is one of the evidence of the efficiency of the Holy Spirit.

Welcome to another blessed day which the Lord has made. Let us be glad and rejoice in it.  May His peace take over every troubling situation in our lives today, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

The Holy Spirit is a Person who resides in us as the Spirit of God. He communicates with our spirit to take charge of our bodies in order to do the things of God. Without the Holy Spirit we can do nothing that pleases God. John 15:5

There are signs that prove we are endowed with the Holy Spirit. One of them is speaking in new tongues — the language of the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit rests on you, you begin to speak in the tongue of the Spirit. You may not understand the language, but the Spirit understands, and He is presenting it before God on your behalf.

When you don’t know what to pray about, when you are confused by your present situation, you can communicate in this language of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit in turn reveals the cry of your heart to God. Romans 8:26

1 Corinthians 14:2 says,
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”

So when we speak in tongues, we are speaking in an unknown tongue, speaking with God, and speaking mysteries.

Praying in the language of the Spirit edifies us.
1 Corinthians 14:4, says,
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself...”

It is also a way of inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit into our environment.
Speaking in tongues is instigated by the Holy Spirit within. Without Him, we cannot get the language of the Spirit right. Many may try to forge it, practice it, or learn it. That is not the language of the Holy Spirit.

Our scripture reading says: Acts 2:4
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, AND BEGAN TO SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, AS THE SPIRIT GAVE THEM UTTERANCE.”

The Spirit is the Enabler — the Giver of the utterance. Not man, not any teacher, but the Holy Spirit. Therefore, without the Holy Spirit we cannot have access to the language of the Spirit.

We must crave for it, even after we have been filled with the Holy Spirit. It is not a one-time experience, but a regular activity.
Whether we are alone or in the congregation, we should pray in the language of the Spirit because we are communicating with the Spirit, not with man.

Prayer
This morning, as many that longs and thirst for the efficiency of the Holy Spirit — which is speaking in a new language — it is released upon you right now, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God bless you and Good Morning.
