Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 30, Day 7, Saturday, 25th July 2026 TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Goodness (6)
TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Goodness (6)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 32 - 34
Romans 1:1 - 17
MEMORY VERSE:
Galatians 5:22-23.
_”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”_ KJV
BIBLE READING:
Galatians 6:9-10.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
Thinking Point:
Goodness, a fruit of the Spirit, draws men to God.
Today, God is giving us rest on all sides, and victory over every storm troubling our hearts, in Jesus' mighty name, *Amen.*
We move to another character of the Spirit which is *Goodness.
Goodness is not just doing good things. It is the Spirit of God making you a channel of goodness, so that good flows out naturally.
It means moral excellence, uprightness, and kindness in action. It’s more than being "nice". Niceness can be fake. Goodness is Christ-like character.
God is good. And He wants His goodness to reproduce in us.
Goodness is the Spirit of God producing a heart that wants what is right, and hands that do what is right. You don’t just think about it, it flows from your heart to do good to others.
How Goodness Shows Up:
1. In Character: The ability to do right when no one is watching.
`Psalm 37:3` - _“Trust in the Lord and do good.”_
2. In Service: It makes you serve without expecting anything back.
`Ephesians 2:10` - _“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”_
3. In Motive: Goodness doesn’t do good for eye service. It does good because Christ is in you.
We are not forced to do it. Goodness does it willingly to encourage and edify others.
Biblical Examples:
1. Jesus: `Acts 10:38` - _“...He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed.”_
The Holy Spirit released the spirit to do good through Him. His goodness was practical and couldn’t be hidden.
2. Dorcas/Tabitha: `Acts 9:36` - _“She was full of good works and acts of charity.”_
Her goodness clothed the poor.
3. The Good Samaritan: `Luke 10:33-34` - He crossed culture, religion, and inconvenience to help. That’s goodness in action.
Why We Need Goodness Today:
Today we live in a world that’s tired, cynical, and selfish. A world that loves evil more than good.
Goodness stands out. It’s rare, and that’s why it draws people to Christ.
Goodness builds trust in marriage, teams, business, and ministry. It is the proof that our faith is real.
Without Goodness, Love becomes words without action, and faith becomes empty.
How to Grow in Goodness:
Goodness becomes real when we look out for one another through calls, visits, help, giving, and encouragement.
It also grows by reading and studying the Word of God. What you feed grows. Feed on God’s Word._
`Proverbs 4:23` - “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.”
Your intake determines your outpour.
PRAYER:
Father,
Make my heart tender, my hands helpful, and my motives pure.
Teach me to do good even when it costs me.
Let my life reflect Your goodness to my family, workplace, and community.
Help me not to grow weary in well-doing.
Use me as a vessel through which Your goodness flows to a hurting world.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
See you tomorrow for the next character of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you and Good Morning.
