“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
BIBLE READING:
1 Corinthians 12:4-10.
_”Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:”_
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit works through the believers to impact others.
It’s another blessed Sunday. As we appear before God to render thanksgiving and our services today, we will hear His voice, receive His leading, and enjoy the atmosphere of the Holy Spirit in our various places of worship in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Today, we are rounding up on the subject of the Holy Spirit. I know we have all been blessed through this subject. This morning we shall be discussing the “Gifts of the Holy Spirit” in a believer as evidence of the Holy Spirit in us.
Yesterday, we focused on the “Fruit of the Holy Spirit” which is meant for the believer. It’s what a believer cultivates personally. It’s not for others, but for individual believers. But the gift of the Holy Spirit is what we use to impact others, both believers and unbelievers. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are used to build the body of Christ and to impact one another.
What are these gifts?
_1 Corinthians 12:8-10 KJV_
_“For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom;
to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
to another faith by the same Spirit;
to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
to another the working of miracles;
to another prophecy;
to another discerning of spirits;
to another divers kinds of tongues;
to another the interpretation of tongues.”_
All these Gifts of the Spirit are evidence that we have been empowered by the Holy Spirit. These gifts are meant to serve others, not ourselves. Through these gifts we draw men to Christ, we help other believers, and build the body of Christ. Our duty is to function with it, not to boast with it.
The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is meant for ourselves, while the gifts are used for others. But the fruit comes before the gifts. Without having the Holy Spirit we can’t access the fruit, and without the fruit we can’t have His gifts. So therefore, the Holy Spirit is the source of all these gifts of the Spirit.
As long as you are a believer, filled with the Holy Spirit, you have one or more of these gifts of the Spirit. But how are you functioning with it? Do you use it for profit or for God’s glory? We have been endowed, we are empowered, and we are to use it for God’s glory, not ours.
