TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Longsuffering (4)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 26 - 29
Acts 28: 1 - 26
MEMORY VERSE:
Galatians 5:22-23.
_”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”_ KJV
BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:1-2
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”
Thinking Point:
Longsuffering is a character of the Holy Spirit for endurance.
The Lord bless our going out and our coming in, increase us on every side, make His face shine upon us and grant us the spirit to endure till the end in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Our focused topic still remains, The Fruit of the Holy Spirit. We have discussed Joy, Love, Peace and today we move to the next fruit which is Longsuffering - the Spirit to endure all situations.
This Spirit kept the Apostles moving regardless of the opposition they faced from the Jewish leaders and chief priests in their days. It is an enablement to endure criticism, reproach and mockery because of our faith and what we stand for. It keeps us moving when the road looks tough. It does not quit on people or on purpose. It propels us to stand for what we believe in.
The Holy Spirit helps us to keep believing that it will soon end, that the challenges will soon be overcome regardless of every obstacle that we face. Longsuffering helps in marriages, workplace and many areas of life. It is the reason for many success stories today because it helps us not to quit until results are achieved.
Apostle Paul exercised this fruit of the Spirit when he said:
_“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”_ 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
This is the work of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. It keeps us going regardless of the obstacles. You just find the Spirit to try again, move on and increase in strength. The Spirit of Longsuffering/Endurance is what we all need to finish the race set before us.
Jesus also demonstrated this fruit of the Spirit, Longsuffering, while on the cross. He endured until the work was finished before He gave up the Ghost.
I don’t know what you are faced with at this moment, but with this fruit of the Spirit, you will scale through and keep moving until results become reality.
Prayer:
Father, Let the Spirit of Longsuffering keep me going. Strengthen my heart not to faint in the day of adversity. Grant me grace to endure trials, criticism, and delays without quitting. Help me to finish my race and fulfill my purpose in You. As Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him, empower me to endure until my testimony is complete. Let Your power uphold me in my marriage, workplace, ministry, and every area of my life, Amen.
See you tomorrow for the next character of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you and Good Morning.
