TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT: Criteria To Receive Him (14)

Job 40 - 42
Acts 23: 12 - 35.
MEMORY VERSE:
1 John 5:7.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
BIBLE READING:
Luke 11:13.
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
Thinking Point:
God releases the Holy Spirit when we place a demand for Him.
Father, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to help us in our weaknesses. We are grateful for the Spirit of Truth and our Intercessor. Help us to walk daily in His guidance, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
The Holy Spirit is our Companion and the deposit of God in us to guide us through our journey here on earth, John 14:16.
Jesus knew what believers would face without Him. He knew we cannot walk this world without the Helper — the Holy Spirit.
As we have discussed, there are key steps:
1. Be Born Again.
The first step is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. John 1:12.
2. Create a Relationship with God.
This is built through prayer, studying God’s Word, our service, and good works.
Today, we are discussing the third step which is:
Asking for the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
God has freely given us all things, but we must ask. While Jesus was speaking to His disciples, He emphasized asking God for the Holy Spirit in prayer. He gave this illustration about receiving the Holy Spirit:
Luke 11:13
_“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”_
Jesus made it clear that God is ready to release the Holy Spirit to whoever places a demand for Him. We are not restricted from asking because it is a gift for us to enjoy.
Cornelius never verbally “asked” for the Holy Spirit, but his consistent fellowship with God gave him access, Acts 10:4, 44.
We too can access the Holy Spirit by asking in our personal closet and in our place of worship, and He will be released upon us.
But we must have a thirst for Him. We must have a longing desire for the Holy Spirit before we can fully access Him.
The Holy Spirit is for Everyone. God is ready to release the Holy Spirit to those who see the need for Him. Let me say this clearly: The Holy Spirit is not meant for special persons like Pastors, Bishops, Reverends, or Church Leaders alone. No. The Holy Spirit is for all believers.
The Holy Spirit is not restricted to church service. We need Him in our daily activities, in our offices, in our homes, and in every decision.
Since we all need the Holy Spirit, it is our right to ask for Him to guide us to do the will of God.
Prayer Point:
Father, I place a demand on You today. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Teach me, lead me, and empower me to live for You. I receive the fullness of the Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen.
