One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 31 - 31
Acts 28: 17 - 31
MEMORY VERSE:
Galatians 5:22-23.
_”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”_ KJV
BIBLE READING:
Proverbs 15:1.
_ “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”_
Thinking Point:
Gentleness is strength under control and correction with love through the Holy Spirit.
We are focused on Gentleness, a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Gentleness is often misunderstood as weakness. But in the Spirit, Gentleness is strength under control. It is corrected with love. It means mildness, tender strength. It’s not timidity. It’s power that chooses to be soft in conflict.
Think of this: Jesus could have called 12 legions of angels to stop His arrest, but He surrendered willingly. He is the Son of God, yet He stooped low to wash His disciples' feet.
Gentleness is the Spirit of God restraining your strength so you can build people, not break them.
How Gentleness Shows Up:
1. In Words: Gentleness speaks truth without tearing down.
Proverbs 15:1
A soft answer turns away wrath.
2. In Correction:
You correct to heal, not to humiliate. You correct to help, not to destroy
Galatians 6:1.
Restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness.
3. In Response to Offense:
Longsuffering endures. Gentleness responds. It doesn’t retaliate, insult, or shout back.
4. In Leadership/Service: Gentle leaders carry people, they don’t crush them. They build, they don’t destroy.
Jesus said, ‘I am gentle and lowly in heart. Matthew 11:29.
5. In Marriage/Family/Workplace: It’s the Spirit that helps you be firm on principles but soft on people.
To live right in this world of arguments, cancel culture, and harshness online and offline, gentleness is the key.
Gentleness is what makes the gospel believable. People won’t remember your argument, but they’ll remember how you made them feel.
Gentleness opens doors that force cannot open.
Without Gentleness, love becomes harsh and truth becomes a weapon.
How to Grow in Gentleness:
1. Ask the Spirit: Holy Spirit, fill me with gentleness daily. Help me relate with a gentle spirit.
2. Pause before reacting: The Spirit gives you 3 seconds to choose response over reaction.
3. Remember how God deals with you: _He is gentle with our weaknesses_ Hebrews 4:15.
4. Practice in small things: Traffic, customer service, family, and places of worship. That’s where gentleness is tested.
PRAYER:
Father, Clothe me with the Spirit of Gentleness. Teach my hands to build and not destroy. Teach my tongue to heal and not wound. Let the same Spirit that was in Christ Jesus be in me. Help me to be strong, yet tender. Bold, yet humble.
Correct me when I’m harsh, and empower me to reflect You to the world.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
See you tomorrow for the next character of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you and Good Morning.
