Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 31, Day 3, Tuesday, 28th July 2026 TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Meekness (9)

TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Meekness (9)

One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 42 - 44
Romans 3

MEMORY VERSE:
Galatians 5:22-23.
_”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”_ KJV

BIBLE READING:
Proverbs 25:28.
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

Thinking Point:
Self-Control is what makes people say: "You are disciplined, and God is with you."

Father, let your light shine ahead of us today. Bring us to pleasant places by directing our steps and affairs today, in Jesus' wonderful name, Amen.

Self-Control is the last character of the Fruit of the Spirit. It is the fruit that guards every other fruit. It simply means mastery, discipline, power over self. It’s not willpower alone. It’s the Holy Spirit giving you strength to say "no" to the flesh and "yes" to God. Self-Control doesn’t kill your desires, it directs them. It is the Spirit of God enabling us to govern our thoughts, words, appetite, and actions.

We live in a world of instant gratification, addictions, and emotional outbursts. Without Self-Control, Love becomes impulsive. Joy becomes moody. Peace becomes fragile. It protects your destiny. It’s what keeps you faithful when no one is watching. It’s the wall that guards all the other fruit.

Solomon said in Proverbs 25:28,
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

Self-Control is shown in our thoughts: It takes every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5. It reflects in our words, appetite, habits and emotions.

Biblical Examples
1. Jesus: Fasted 40 days. Tempted in every way, yet without sin. He mastered His appetite, emotions, and words. Luke 4:1-13.
2. Joseph: Said "No" to Potiphar’s wife even when no one was watching. Genesis 39:9. That’s sexual and moral self-control.
3. Daniel: Daniel Purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king’s food. Daniel 1:8. Discipline in small things.
4. Paul: “I discipline my body and keep it under control” 1 Corinthians 9:27. He ran the race with focus.
5. Samson: Failed by not putting his body under control and became a victim of Delilah. Judges 16.

Without Self-Control, the other 8 characters can't be realistic.

How Do We Grow In Self-control
1. Walk in the Spirit daily: To walk in the Spirit is to avoid whatever will not glorify God. Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
2. Set boundaries: What you don’t confront, you will repeat. Guard your eyes, ears, thoughts and phone.
3. Practice in small things: The 5-minute delay. The "no" to snacks. The pause before replying. Small wins build muscle.
4. Feed your Spirit: Prayer, Word, fasting. A full Spirit has power over a weak flesh.
5. Ask the Spirit: _“Holy Spirit, give me strength to master this area today.”

PRAYER:
Father, Fill me with the Spirit of Self-Control. Take control of my thoughts, my mouth, my appetite, and my reactions.
Give me discipline to do what is right even when I don’t feel like it. Help me to build walls around my life that honor You. Let my life reflect order, focus, and victory. Make me a person who finishes well, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

See you tomorrow for the next character of the Holy Spirit.

God bless you and Good Morning.
