TOPIC: THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT: Faith (7)

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Thinking Point:
Faith is the foundation of every character of the Holy Spirit.
Glory be to God for seeing the last Sunday of the month of July in sound health and peace of mind. The Lord that brought us this far will take us to the end of the month and beyond, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
The next character of the Holy Spirit is Faith — the secret of our heroes.
WHAT IS FAITH?
Faith is the end result, the _substance_ that you are walking toward. Walking toward it is being faithful until the faith becomes reality.
Take for instance, I am going to Lagos — that’s the faith. Lagos is the end result, the substance I hope to achieve. Getting to Lagos involves action, determination, focus, and resources. Putting all of these together is what we call Faithfulness.
You can’t have faith without the Holy Spirit. You can’t grow in faith without the Holy Spirit. The Spirit enables us to keep going, keep moving. To crawl when we need to, to walk when we need to, to run when it’s necessary, and to fly if we need to fly. That is what faith does.
Without faith we can’t be in line with God. I define FAITH as an acronym: “Father, I Am In Thy Hands.” Faith is telling God, _“You are leading me to this destination. Your word propels me, and I am moving in that direction.”_
Abraham is called the Father of Faith because he put his faith on the line.
Obedience is the proof of faith in God. With God’s instruction in `Genesis 22`, he took his only beloved son for sacrifice.
The level of our faith in God determines our altitude with God. When we grow in putting our faith on the line, we grow to maturity with God. Faith sees possibility even when the road seems impossible.
To access what God has for us, we need to grow in faith.
`Romans 1:17` - _“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; for ‘The just shall live by faith.’”_
The Holy Spirit is the Helper to grow our faith. Without Him we will live in fear.
Faith is a character of the Holy Spirit. We grow as we apply faith to everything in our lives.
PRAYER:
Father,Clothe me with the Spirit of Faith.
Strengthen me to trust You completely and to walk in obedience. Give me grace to keep going when I’m tired, to keep sowing when I can’t see results, and to keep believing when the road is hard. Help my faith grow from faith to faith. Let my life honor You and draw others to You, In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
