Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 40, Day 1, Sunday, 27th September 2026 TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (1): Humility

TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (1): Humility

One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 23 - 24
Ephesians 4: 1 - 16

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

BIBLE READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves..."

Thinking Point:
God does not hear the prayers of the proud; He hears humble hearts.

This last week of the month, there shall be recovery, restoration, completeness and satisfaction for all that God has in stock for us in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

I welcome you to this new series. It is my prayer that God will reveal His mind deeper, that we might walk in His will in Jesus' name, Amen.

There is always a request from God before His response. Many want the response - to be heard from heaven, forgiveness of sin and healing - but skip God's request. In this series, we will examine God's four requests and His three responses.

From our anchor scripture, "If My People, Who Are Called By My Name" means God was not speaking to unbelievers or backsliders, but to those called to serve and still serving Him. Many have been carried away with service and sacrifices that they neglect what is most important to God. This study is for all believers, as a regular self-check.

The first request is Humility: the key that opens heaven. God has a protocol for His presence. The first is not prayer; it is humility. Without it, God cannot hear our prayer.

In Hebrew thought, humility is Kana - to bend, to bow low, to be brought into subjection. It is not low self-esteem. It is agreeing with God that without Him we are nothing and can do nothing, John 15:5. It is the heart that says, "Lord, I need You. Not my will, but Yours."

Psalm 138:6 says, "Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off."

God is high, yet He comes low to the humble. In other words, no matter our height, level, position or wealth, we must come before Him in humility as subjects.

Why is humility first? Because pride is the sin that makes God resist you. James 4:6 says, "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." You can pray for 10 hours in pride and heaven will be silent. You can whisper one sentence in humility and heaven will shake.

Many prayers are unanswered because they are prayed from a throne of pride - "God, You must do it now." Humble prayer says, "Lord, if You will, You can."

Humility is what made God hear the publican in Luke 18:13-14. The Pharisee boasted, the publican bowed. The Pharisee was rejected, the publican was justified.

"Before honour is humility" - Proverbs 15:33.

Before you pray today, humble yourself. Bow physically. Kneel. Lie prostrate if you can. Tell God, "I am nothing without You." Repent of any pride - of knowledge, anointing, money, or self-righteousness. God hears the humble.

Prayer:
Father, forgive me for every form of pride. I humble myself before You. I am nothing without You. In humility, I ask that You hear my voice. Let Your grace come to me in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

God bless you and Good Morning.
