TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (4): Turn From Evil Ways - The Condition For Presence
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 29 - 30
Ephesians 5: 22 - 6: 1 - 9
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
BIBLE READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14,
"...and turn from their wicked ways..."
Isaiah 59:1-2
“Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
Thinking Point:
God does not bless who you pretend to be; He blesses who you have turned to become.
Today, being the last day of September, God will remember our sacrifices and release every reward attached to them. We will not end this month without testimonies in Jesus' wonderful name, Amen.
The fourth request of God from all believers is to "Turn from their wicked ways." In Hebrew it is called Shub — to turn back, to repent, to make a 180-degree change. This is the hardest request, but the most necessary — TURN.
God does not attend to workers of iniquity. Psalm 66:18 says, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."
You can humble yourself, pray, and seek His face, but if you still love your wicked ways, heaven is closed. Isaiah 59:2 says, "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God."
What are wicked ways? Not just adultery and stealing. Bitterness, unforgiveness, lying, gossip, pride, sexual immorality, fraud in business, hatred, seeking revenge, seeking the downfall of others, maltreating your spouse, neglecting your parents, denying others promotion, and withholding wages are all wicked ways. Any way that is not God's way is a wicked way.
Turning is not feeling sorry; turning is leaving the way. Proverbs 28:13 says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Confessing without forsaking is not repentance.
Why does God insist on turning? Because He cannot heal a land that loves the sickness. He cannot bless a hand that still holds sin.
This request shows that God is holy. He loves the sinner but hates the sin. If you want His response, you must release your wicked ways.
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts" - Isaiah 55:7.
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out" - Acts 3:19.
"Depart from evil, and do good" - Psalm 34:14.
Examine your ways today. Is there a wicked way you have been pampering? A secret sin? Malice? Bitterness? Turn from it today. Don't manage it; forsake it. Make a decision — "I turn from this." God wants us completely, not partially. He wants our attention to be on Him alone. So, if you are humble, prayerful and seek His face regularly but still indulge in wicked ways, God's response to all your requests will remain pending. It's time to forgive and let go. It's time to turn 180° from every evil act you practice, and then God will hear you.
Prayer:
Holy Father, search me and try me. Reveal every wicked way in me. Today, I turn from it. I forsake it completely. Wash me with the blood of Jesus and make me clean. Let nothing stand between You and me in Jesus' Name, Amen.
God bless you and Good Morning.
