TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (2): The Channel Of Communication

One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 25 - 26
Ephesians 4:17 - 5: 1 - 2

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

BIBLE READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14,
"...and pray..."

Jeremiah 33:3.
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

Thinking Point:
Prayer is not informing God of your problem; it is inviting Him into your situation.

The hand of the Almighty God will uphold us this week, set us above all issues and opposition around our lives in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

The Request and Response of God starts with coming before Him in Humility, which is access, then Prayer. Humility prepares the heart; Prayer opens the mouth.

To pray in Hebrew is Palal - to intercede, to make supplication, to judge oneself.

Prayer is a way of communicating with God concerning His Word about our lives. Prayer is not complaining, it is not gossiping to God about people. Prayer is aligning your mouth with what God has already said.

Many pray their fears - "God, I will die, I will fail." That is not prayer. Prayer is praying His Word back to Him. Isaiah 43:26 says, "Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified." Prayer is reminding God of what He says about you.

When God says, "I will heal your land," you pray, "Father, You said You will heal my land, therefore heal my land." You remind God of His promise, not your problem.

God wants us to pray because prayer is partnership. He can do all things, but He has chosen to work through praying men, Ezekiel 22:30. He is looking for a man to stand in the gap.

Prayer without humility is noise, and humility without prayer is incomplete. The humble must pray. You cannot just be humble and silent; you must open your mouth.

"Men ought always to pray, and not to faint" - Luke 18:1
"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" - James 5:16

The context of your prayer also matters. You don't go before Him without appreciation - praise and worship, which is gratitude for all He has done. You let Him know you are grateful for life, for what has kept you till date, and for all you have enjoyed without asking. Prayer is not placing your request before Him first; it starts with appreciation.

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name" - Matthew 6:9

"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name" - Psalms 100:4.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. James 4:3

You enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise, clothed with humility, then you can remind Him of His commitment towards you from His Word. Praying rightly hastens God's response.

Set apart time to pray today - not with vain repetition, but with the Word. Take one promise of God concerning your life and pray it back to Him for 30 minutes. That is communicating His Word about your life. Remember, humility is the key to accessing His presence before communicating with Him.

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to pray. Let my prayers be based on Your Word and not my fear. Today, I partner with You in the place of prayer. Let my voice be heard in heaven in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

God bless you and Good Morning.
