TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (3): Seek His Face - The Personal Pursuit
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 27 - 28
Ephesians 5: 3 - 21
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
BIBLE READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14,
"...and seek my face..."
Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Thinking Point:
You can seek God's hand and get His blessings; seek His face and you get Himself.
This day, we shall not be unfortunate, we shall not be a victim, the power of exemption from evil rests upon us all in Jesus’ Mighty Name Amen.
Request and Responses of God has been our focus this week. We have learned to humble ourselves and Pray rightly. Now God asks for more — seek My face.
The third request of God is that we “Seek His Face”. Hebrew _Baqash_ to search out, to crave, to strive after.
Seeking God's face is personal, not collective. You can pray collectively, but seeking is personal. It is the key to the heart of God.
There is a difference between seeking God's hand and seeking God's face. The hand gives you gifts, promotion, money, healing. The face gives you Himself. Moses said in Exodus 33:15, "If thy presence goes not with me, carry us not up hence." He wanted the face, not just the hand.
Many seek what God can give and not God Himself. That is why after receiving the blessing, they lose God. But those who seek His face will never lose His hand.
How do you seek His face? Through deep worship, through waiting in His presence, through meditating on His Word, through fasting. It is not a 5-minute prayer. It is lingering. Psalm 27:8 says, "When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek."
When you seek a man's face, you want intimacy. God is saying, "I don't want a distant relationship. I want you close."
Personal seeking is the secret of men who carry power. Jesus sought His Father early in the morning, Mark 1:35. Personal, not public.
Elijah said in 1 Kings 17:1
“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, AS THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL LIVETH, BEFORE WHOM I STAND, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”
This is an example of those who seek the face of God. Humility and prayer without Seeking God's face has a limited access to God's resources.
Today, don't just pray for needs. Seek His face. Put off your phone for 1 hour. Worship. Wait. Let Him speak. Tell Him, "Lord, I want You more than what You can give me."
Prayer:
Father, today I seek Your face, not just Your hand. Draw me into personal intimacy with You. Let me know You for Yourself. Let Your presence be my greatest reward in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
God bless you and Good Morning.
