TOPIC: REQUESTS AND RESPONSES FROM GOD (5): Forgiveness - The Restoration Of Relationship
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 33 - 34
Philipians 1: 1 - 30
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
BIBLE READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14,
"...and will forgive their sin..."
1 John 1:9-10
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
Thinking Point:
Forgiveness is not God managing your sin; it is God removing it.
Every limitation in our lives, marriages, workplaces, and careers will be broken off this month. Nothing negative will stand before us anymore in Jesus' wonderful name, Amen.
We started studying God's response yesterday after we responded to His requests. And we said, God hears our request, listens to our supplication, then He will forgive our shortcomings.
Forgiveness is the second response from God. Why must He forgive? Because sin is the root of every problem. Sickness, barrenness, oppression, delay, and confusion often have sin as an open door. When sin is forgiven, the door is closed. Hallelujah! That is why God sent Jesus to take away our sins. Sin is the entrance to every evil and uncomfortable living.
What does forgiveness mean? It means to be pardoned, to be lifted, to be taken away. When God forgives, He lifts the sin off you. Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."
He does not leave it on you. He removes it. Micah 7:19 says He casts our sins into the depths of the sea.
Forgiveness is not just an Old Testament promise. It was purchased by the blood of Jesus, Ephesians 1:7. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us."
Forgiveness restores relationship. Sin breaks fellowship; forgiveness restores it. You cannot walk in healing if you are still carrying guilt. Forgiveness clears your conscience and restores your boldness before God.
That is why forgiveness comes before healing in the text. First the relationship, then the reward.
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins" - Ephesians 1:7.
Jesus paid for our sins and restored our relationship with God, but going back to sin is dangerous.
"For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more" - Hebrews 8:12.
Receive forgiveness today. Stop carrying guilt. If you have taken the first four steps, you are forgiven. Confess it — "I am forgiven, I am cleansed, my relationship with God is restored." It will interest you to know that you can't follow the four steps and be forgiven, but if you return to your sins, you are erecting the limitation all over again. When Jesus heals or cures a disease, He warns, "Go and sin no more." So it is dangerous to continue in sin after your relationship with God has been restored.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for forgiveness through the blood of Jesus. I receive pardon today. Let my sins be removed far from me. Help me to walk in the Spirit in order to enjoy Your presence daily. Give me grace to subdue the flesh and its carnality, in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
God bless you and Good Morning.
