TOPIC: WEARINESS (6): Cause Of Weariness: Laziness In Prayer
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 48 - 49
Colossians 2: 6 - 23
MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
BIBLE READING:
Matthew 26:41.
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Thinking Point:
Being a prayerless Christian is an invitation to become prey and end up in weariness.
This morning, whatever may be drying up your prayer life, I rebuke it in Jesus' Name. That spirit weakening your prayer life is cast out in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Weariness is not a sudden incident; it is gradual. It starts from neglecting those points we've been discussing. Little distraction to serious distraction. Delay in taking actions, Comparison and Disobedience, but we don't take it seriously at the initial stage. I pray today, in any area that we may be weary, God is intervening in Jesus' Name, Amen.
Today, we progress to another root of weariness which is Prayerlessness. Prayer is the instrument to defeat the enemy. Without prayer, every other thing will fail. Faith needs prayer. The Word of God needs prayer. What is good and what is otherwise also needs prayer. So when we are not praying, we are dragging ourselves backward, building ourselves for weariness. Satan targets the prayerless. His prey are those who don't pray; so, if you don't pray you will become a prey to the devil and to negativity.
Prayer is strength renewed. Isaiah 40:31 says,
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
The word 'wait' there speaks of prayer and fellowship. Strength is renewed on the altar of prayer.
Jesus said in Matthew 26:41,
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Prayer is how the willing spirit overcomes the weak flesh. We pray to build and rebuild. We pray to restore and sustain. We pray to heal, to live, and to create our faith.
Laziness in prayer discharges your spiritual battery. When you don't pray, you become dry, weak, and weary. The key to overcoming weariness is to start praying. Bishop David Abioye said, "If you don't feel like praying, start praying. Ignite prayer. Pray in tongues and your feelings will join you." Prayer is not by size or by duration, just start telling God to renew your strength, to increase your strength, to ignite your prayer life. When you start praying, weariness will start leaving you. Lack of prayer is an invitation to weariness in all accomplishments.
Tiredness can be cured by sleep, but weariness can be cured by prayer. Your prayer altar is your power station. Put it ON, let it be alert. Pray alone. Join others to pray. Have prayer companions and your spirit will wake up.
Proverbs 27:17 says,
"Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
Speak to those who can ignite your prayer life and your weariness will find its way out of your life.
Luke 18:1 says,
"And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint."
Prayerlessness leads to fainting; prayerfulness restores strength.
Prayer:
Father, deliver me from laziness in prayer. Put fresh fire on my prayer altar and renew my strength like the eagle's in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
