TOPIC: WEARINESS (13): Cause Of Weariness: Wrong Associations
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 64 - 66
2 Thess. 1: 1 - 12
MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
BIBLE READING:
1 Corinthians 15:33-34.
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”
Thinking Point:
Wrong Association Drains Your Strength More Than Good Association Does
Today, every wrong association draining your strength is disconnected from you. You are released from every battle that is not yours in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Weariness is a product of strength being used in the wrong place or for the wrong people. Wrong Association is another cause of weariness. Walking and working with people who only drain you of strength, energy, time and resources makes one become weary. Living and dining with people who have no impact on you but tend to yoke themselves to you in the name of friendship is a waste of energy. When your association influences you and you do the same, it is a way of strength renewal, but when the reverse is the case, you need to cut them off.
King Solomon said in Proverbs 13:20,
"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
Wrong association will end up in wasted time, wasted resources, wasted energy, and weariness takes over such a soul. Wrong association is like fighting battles that you are not meant to fight. Going to other people's wars when your own war is waiting for you to fight. Fighting battles God didn't give you will wear you out.
The Bible speaking in 2 Samuel 21:15,
"Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint."
At a point, David became faint in battle. Not because the battle was too strong, but because he was fighting a battle in a season he should have stayed back.
Many are weary because they are fighting battles God did not assign to them. You are fighting family battles, office battles, battles in the neighbourhood — battles that are not yours. Some friends are energy drainers. After talking to them, you feel empty, confused, and discouraged, all in the name of trying to encourage them. They complain about everything, they criticize everything, and they leave you weary.
You must discern when to fight and when to walk away. You must discern who to walk with and who to avoid. Not every argument deserves your response. Not every invitation deserves your presence.
Protect your strength by choosing your battles and choosing your company wisely.
Prayer:
Father, disconnect me from every wrong association and every battle that is not mine. Give me wisdom to walk with the right people and to fight only what You assign to me in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Good morning and God bless you.
