Thinking Point:
The Foundation Of A Believer In Christ Is Thanksgiving In All Things And All Situations
Today, your heart will be filled with thanksgiving and your mouth shall not lack reasons to thank God in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
I welcome you to another interesting series for our devotion this week as the Lord will be revealing what He wants the most in the life of a believer. Many of these pillars have been neglected and seen as ineffective because we have wrong perspectives about them. I pray that God will give us understanding to grasp what God intends for us this week in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
The first Pillar to sustain a believer in our race is the attitude of THANKSGIVING.
Thanksgiving is Giving Of Thanks to the Doer of things. It is showing gratitude that you are grateful. It is a deep reasoning of the acts of God.
It should be a routine, not an option.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says,
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
It is not an option, it is a command. When you can't give thanks, you are not ready for another blessing.
Thanksgiving is a sign of humility, a sign of gratitude, a sign of dependency on God, a sign that you know something has been done for you. A sign of genuine servanthood. Thanksgiving makes you focused.
Psalm 100:4 says,
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, … be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
The wrong perspective we have is that until something new happens we don't give thanks, that is very wrong. Thanksgiving is a way into God's gate. His gate can only be opened for thanksgivers, not thanks-receivers. Thanks-receivers are those who want to be thanked for everything but never give thanks. You don't thank God because all needs are met, but we thank Him because needs are met and will still be met.
Thanksgiving is the gate into God's presence. Without thanksgiving, you cannot access the courts of God. Many pray, but few thank God. Thank Him for your salvation, thank Him for the continuous breath in you, for the functioning parts of your body; we have thousands of reasons to thank Him.
Lamentations 3:22-23 says,
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Thanksgiving is not because everything is perfect; it is because God is still faithful. The one who thanks God in little will see God do much. Thanksgiving turns your complaints into testimonies.
Jesus thanked God before Lazarus was brought back to life, John 11:41. He thanked God before feeding 5,000,
Matthew 15:36, and 4,000 people. Thanksgiving is before, during, and after the act of God.
A Christian who lacks thanksgiving will always murmur. Murmuring closes doors, but thanksgiving opens gates. When you thank God for yesterday, you provoke Him to do more today.
Even when things are not working, thank Him because He is working behind the scenes.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for complaining. Today, I enter Your gates with thanksgiving. Give me a grateful heart in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Good morning and God bless you.
