Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 42, Day 3, Tuesday, 13th October 2026 TOPIC: WEARINESS (10): Cause Of Weariness: Going Against His Word

TOPIC: WEARINESS (10): Cause Of Weariness: Going Against His Word

One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 57 - 58
1 Thess. 2: 17 - 3: 1 - 13

MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

BIBLE READING:
Isaiah 8:20.
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

Thinking Point:
Going contrary to God's Word attracts weariness and darkness in one's direction.

The mighty hand of the Lord shall redirect our path to His will in Jesus' Mighty Name. We are walking according to His Word for our lives henceforth, in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

Today, in the course of our study, we are shifting our focus to "Going Against God's Word" as another reason for weariness. It is important to know that God's Word is God Himself, John 1:1. Any direction opposite to God's Word attracts weariness. Weariness can mean confusion, stagnation, limitation, and being stranded. All these are not the plan of God for anyone who follows Him. The reason for God's Word is for our progress, advancement, manifestation, and glorification. When we fall short of any of the above, we are missing something, which is why we have been studying this topic for the second week.

God was speaking through Prophet Isaiah in our text today. Let's see the New Living Translation, which says:

Isaiah 8:20-22 (NLT)
Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict His Word are completely in the dark.
They will go from one place to another, weary and hungry. And because they are hungry, they will rage and curse their king and their God. They will look up to heaven
and down at the earth, but wherever they look, there will be trouble and anguish and dark despair. They will be thrown out into the darkness.”

I believe this translation explains it more clearly. When we go contrary to God's Word, we end up in darkness, weariness, and hunger, and we start fighting the wrong people, blaming others for our own ordeal. When we feel we know more than God Himself, we land in trouble and end up casting blame on others.

It is a pity that the Word of God has become a joke in the world today. We make content with it, mock others with it, and insult those who preach the Word of God with ease and joy, which is why confusion is everywhere. Whenever confusion is in charge, weariness is inevitable. When we go contrary to His commands concerning our purpose, dream, and vision, weariness cannot be avoided.

When King Saul went against God's instruction to destroy the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 15, it led to his destruction, but before that, he became weary and went to consult a medium. Confusion stepped into his life, weariness took over, and he began to live in darkness, all because he went contrary to God's Word.

Take time out and search yourself if you have gone contrary to God's command over your life and business. Where have you followed your own way or the way of your friends, advisers, and mentors against God’s Word? It is time to make it right. It is time to do the needful.

Prayer:
Almighty God, show me where I have gone contrary to Your Word and redirect my path back to You. Help me walk out of weariness back into Your Word for my life in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.

Good morning and God bless you.
