Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 41, Day 3, Tuesday, 6th October 2026 TOPIC: WEARINESS (3): Cause Of Weariness: Delay

TOPIC: WEARINESS (3): Cause Of Weariness: Delay

One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 42 - 43
Philippians 4: 4 - 23

MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

BIBLE READING:
Proverbs 13:12
"Hope deferred maketh the heart sick."

Thinking Point:
When expectations are delayed, weariness takes over the heart.

I speak the life of God into you this morning; every trace of weariness is dried up. The might of God overtakes every sleepless night issue in your life in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

Weariness is not of God; it is what rules our heart as a result of unexpected situations. Yesterday we saw Distraction as the first cause of weariness, and today we are studying Delay as the second cause of weariness. First of all, what we term as delay around us is timely to God. We call them delay, but God knows them to be "an appointed time."

What is delay? Delay is when man's expectations do not come to pass as expected according to man's timing. A lady who remains single at forty sees herself as someone experiencing delay in marriage. One who is still looking up to God for the fruit of the womb sees it as a waiting period, also known as delay, and all these lead to weariness of the heart.

Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac after the promise. Between the promise and performance, his faith was stretched and his soul became weary. He told God to forget about Isaac and focus on Ishmael because weariness had taken over, Genesis 17:17-18. But God kept visiting him to strengthen him.

When hope is deferred, the heart becomes sick. When prayers seem unanswered and expectations seem unfulfilled, weariness creeps in. We begin to doubt the Word of God because our expectations are delayed; we become weary in spirit, soul, and body.

Delay makes you question God, question yourself, and question the journey. It whispers, "Will it ever happen?"

But delay is not denial. God is never late. He uses delay to build you into maturity, and to perfect what He has promised you. Your waiting season is not a wasted season.

David said in Psalms 30:5,
"..., weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Delay season is the weeping season, questioning season, but the Word of the Lord says, joy comes in the morning. When you feel weary and downcast, remember that,

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19.

What He says He will do, He will surely do. God has not forgotten us; He is preparing us for what we prayed for. He is working out the best on our behalf. Don't allow the devil to weary you with time or age; the ageless God can add to your age and extend your time to enjoy the best of your desires. I see that job locating you before the end of this year. I see you coming in contact with your spouse with speedy wedding this year. Remove the garment of weariness and put on the garment of praise. God is speaking to you right now. Your marriage case will be settled if only you will allow your heart to be settled and let God have His way.

Prayer:
Father, in this season of delay, strengthen my heart. I refuse to be sick in my heart. My expectation shall not be cut off in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

God bless you and Good Morning.
