TOPIC: WEARINESS (8): Cause Of Weariness: Unconfessed Sin And Guilt
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 52 - 53
Colossians 4: 2 - 18.
MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 40:31
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
BIBLE READING:
1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Thinking Point:
Sin drains strength. Sin kills confidence and stops you from approaching the presence of God.
This morning, every hidden weight of guilt and sin is lifted off your life. The mercy of God speaks for you and renews your strength in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
A wonderful new week to everyone. I felt the need to continue on the causes of weariness instead of starting another series this morning. Weariness is so important because confidence gets lost when it is not discerned early in life. So today, we are studying Sin as one of the causes of weariness.
When sin rules over a person, you become guilty, a slave in the palace, boldness is lost, confidence disappears and weariness to even speak to God becomes the order of the day. Unconfessed sin and guilt is a source of weariness.
David understood this. He said in Psalm 32:3-4,
_"When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer."_
Guilt is heavy. When you know you have done wrong and you refuse to confess it, your conscience becomes your accuser. You cannot pray freely, you cannot worship freely, you become dry and weary.
Sin does not just break fellowship with God; it breaks your strength. Proverbs 28:13 says, _"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."_
Many are not under demonic attack, they are under guilt. They offended someone, they compromised, they did something secretly, and they kept quiet. That silence is draining them.
The cure for this weariness is confession and repentance. 1 John 1:9 says, _"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."_
God is waiting for us to make confession with our mouth but guilt stops us from confessing and one keeps going down in weariness. When weariness becomes permanent, restoration becomes very difficult.
Where you have fallen, rise again. Who do you need to forgive? Which sin do you need to let go and let God handle? What guilt is eating you up? God is not holding your past against you; He wants to restore you. Go to Him and confess and repent of them all. He is waiting to lift you out of that weariness.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for every sin that has drained my strength. I confess them today. Wash me and renew my strength in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Good morning and God bless you.
