"20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost."
BIBLE READING:
2 Thessalonians 3:7 - 10
"7. For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you."
"8. We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you.
"9. We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow."
"10. Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
Thinking Point:
Building a spiritual growth with good manners without a career makes one a dependant. Don't let your hand be idle.
With the way the world is right now, no one should be a burden on another. No one is permitted to be lazy and depend on those who are diligent, everyone must find something to do in order to take good care of themselves and their family. Whoever you are, either a servant of God or minister of the gospel, there should be a means of survival without waiting for manna to fall from heaven or depend on someone to take care of your needs. At least, you should have a hand work or skills that will generate an income for you even if it's minimal, you must have something to do. As the saying goes, "an idle hand is the devil workshop" and also "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
Many spend time in church, from one mountain to another instead of seeking for a skill to learn even if they can't get a job. Prayer works, don't get me wrong but it gives you direction, insight or an idea that will put an end to what you are going through. Most times we are waiting or praying when God is telling us what to do. Roll up your sleeves and put your hand to work. Until many see what you can do, they may not render any help. You don't pray all day and think God will jump down to employ you, even the unbeliever gets jobs and they are doing well without visiting prayer houses here and there. We need God in all we do but we need ourselves also because God will give you what to do, it's left for you to do it diligently to become independent. Diligence in what we do is what builds our career. Hear what Apostle Paul said again,
"7. For you know that you ought to imitate us. WE WERE NOT IDLE WHEN WE WERE WITH YOU."
"8. We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We Worked Hard Day And Night So We Would Not Be A Burden To Any Of You.
Idleness is a burden which is killing the world, working hard will not kill anyone but kill poverty. If your income is not mega, get a side business to accommodate your expenses, being dependent makes you a servant, independence makes you a master. Build your career, not just your spiritual life.
