Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 44, Day 5, Thursday, 31st October 2024 TOPIC: TRUSTING GOD: Praises Replaces Grumbling (5)

TOPIC: TRUSTING GOD: Praises Replaces Grumbling (5)

MEMORY VERSE:
Proverbs 3:5-6.
"5. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
"6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

BIBLE READING:
Acts 16:23 - 26
"23. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape."
"24. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks."
"25. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening."
"26. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!"

Thinking Point:
Our trust in God is what defines our praises instead of grumbling when all things look contrary.

Trusting God presents us foolishly to those who don't understand our way of life. I will always say this again and again, not everyone you see in church dancing, smiling and jovial is without issues, no, they only trust God that "He is able to do all things." Trusting God makes us walk in the reality of "what God can do" not "If God can do it". When you see believers jumping in the service, don't be carried away, they may have no plans for what they will eat at home but they trust God that they will eat. It's very easy to know where you trust lies when you are in need or faced with challenges, your praise or grumbling symbolizes where your trust is.

Paul and Silas were locked up for rebuking an evil spirit in a girl child. The best situation at that moment was for them to grumble to God, "God why me?" They were supposed to resist arrest or prove they were not guilty if they were locked in prison. The bible said at midnight, both of them praised and prayed until the doors fled open in their own accords, why will they do this? They knew who they trusted. They knew how to prove to Him that they are not moved. A heart filled with Praise is a heart that makes God His trust under any condition. Hope you don't earn the title of Mr or Mrs grumbler? If you do, your trust is not in God but in Mammon. After their praises, the family of the prison guard gave their lives to God, why? Because he saw something different in their life. What do you do when situations look frustrating? Grumbling or praise? Define your trust with your praise.

Good day and God Bless you.
