Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 51, Day 6, Friday, 20th December 2024 TOPIC: THE DECEIT OF THE DEVIL: Taste of Sin (6)

TOPIC: THE DECEIT OF THE DEVIL: Taste of Sin (6)

MEMORY VERSE:
1 Peter 5:8.
"8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

BIBLE READING:
Genesis 3:6.
"6. ...and she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, ..."

Thinking Point:
Discontentment is the habit that takes your focus away from all you have to little things you lack.

It's my prayer that we shall be victorious in the face of any form of temptation in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen

Yesterday, we saw how the devil painted the forbidden tree and its fruit to Eve and instantly she fell for the gimmicks of the devil. Having lusted after the fruit, she plucked the fruit and ate. This is always the desire of the devil for we believers in Christ. The reason why you keep seeing that negative side of every situation is for the devil to take over what gives you joy and attach you to God. The devil knows he already lost the battle with God so we are his focus, all he wants is to see us disappointing the trust God has in us, to disconnect us from God and have us to his bidding, but Jesus has already fought and won the battle for us. We are more than conquerors in Christ.

Eve took the fruit, ate it and her eyes became clearer. Did we notice the devil has nothing to do with them again? The serpent left the scene after the deal was done. I want to speak to everyone this morning, maybe we feel it's normal or abnormal, the devil is positioning that forbidden fruit before you to eat. It may be that man or woman trying to divert your attention from your spouse. May be that funds or bribe to make you a slave to truth or that anger to bring reproach to the name of God, see it as the forbidden fruit. That bitterness towards your neighbour or colleagues, that malicious attitude, greed for what others have and you know you don't deserve, it's the gimmicks of the devil to win you to his side, don't eat the fruit, think it through, does it worth it? Will it make God happy about you? Will you be confident to still go to God in prayers and fellowship? If not, it's a forbidden fruit. The truth is this, when you eat the fruit you will be alone and be far from God, yes, there's mercy but there's also consequences for every action.

Father, we look up to you for help, increase our strength to defeat the gimmick of the devil, give us the courage to say no to the devil and it's lust in Jesus' name, Amen.

Good Morning and God bless you.
