Mobile Daily Devotional with Oluboye Emmanuel Week 9, Day 2, Monday, 24th February, 2025 TOPIC: TYPES OF GARMENT: Hindrance Garments (2)
TOPIC: TYPES OF GARMENT: Hindrance Garments (2)
ONE YEAR BIBLE READING: Leviticus 25, Mark 6:30-56
MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 61:3.
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."
BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:49-50
"49. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee."
"50. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus."
Thinking Point:
Many believers are saved but still hold onto their old garments while trying to walk with Jesus.
Happy new week to you all in Jesus' name, Amen. Today, we're focusing on Hindrance Garments. What do I mean by this? As believers and Christians, we often refuse to let go of attitudes that don't align with walking with Jesus. To enjoy the best of God, we need to drop many things from our lives.
We need Jesus' help, but we still cling to the world and its ways. Blind Bartimaeus was ready for Jesus' best. When he was informed that Jesus was calling him, he didn't ask if he could drop his garment; he intentionally cast it away and ran to Jesus for His best, which was his sight. He didn't carry his bowl of cash, mat, or garment; he dropped them all.
Many of us wear different garments that's holdinh us back, such as anger, bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, nagging, complaining, pride, selfishness, stubbornness, and more. Some are not teachable, thinking they already know it all. With these garments on, we can't run to meet Jesus or catch up with the best He has for us. We must drop these hindrance garments and run to Jesus. Until we release these garments, there's nothing Jesus can do about it. Blind Bartimaeus didn't let anyone take his garment; he dropped it intentionally. What garment are you holding onto? What attitude, habit, or principle can't you do away with? That's the garment you need to drop.
Pray with me:
Father, in Jesus' name, I cast away every garment holding me back from enjoying the best you have for me. I turn away from them and turn to you today in Jesus' name, so help me, God, Amen.
