Mobile Daily Devotional with Oluboye Emmanuel Week 9, Day 3, Tuesday, 25th February, 2025 TOPIC: TYPES OF GARMENT: Comfort Zone Garments (3)
TOPIC: TYPES OF GARMENT: Comfort Zone Garments (3)
ONE YEAR BIBLE READING:
Leviticus 26 - 27, Mark 7:1-23
MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 61:3.
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."
BIBLE READING:
Genesis 37:23.
"23. And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;"
Genesis 39:12.
"12. And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out."
Thinking Point:
I call this arrival mentality garment. This can stop one from achieving more in life if God does not intervene.
Many believe they have arrived and their present position is their highest peak in life. They see where they are as their comfort Zion. No desire for a higher or better place in life. They settled for what they have at hand rather than to go for a better place. This is a comfort zone garment. Being too content with where you are is not the plan of God for His children. Some believe they can't go beyond a self contained apartment or one bedroom flat because they can't raise the rent. No thought of buying land or building houses ever crosses their mind, arrival mentality is a garment we put on ourselves.
Joseph operated at this level when he had coats of many colours. He has the mentality of arrival despite God showing him where he is taking him to. He was the favorite of Jacob and enjoyed even the right first born don't enjoy. In Potiphar's house, the same mentality runs in him, “I'm in charge”, “am rightly placed”, until God removes that garment again from him through Potiphar's wife. When we glory in the level we are, we resist moving forward. Not that we can't do better than we are doing but we are afraid of aiming higher so we choose to remain where we are. It's time to overcome the “comfort zone” garment. When we believe we are at our peak in life, then we begin to descend the ladder of greatness. It's time to begin to aim higher, dream bigger, and act accordingly to that level we desire.
Father, help me do away with the garment of comfort zone in my life. I refuse to remain at this level, I begin to go higher and grow higher from today on, in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
