Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 20, Day 4, Wednesday, 14th May 2025 TOPIC: LESSONS FROM SAUL AND DAVID: Proving Tools (11)

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM SAUL AND DAVID: Proving Tools (11)

One Year Bible Reading:
1 King 12 - 14, John 6 : 60 - 71.

MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 11:12.
"12. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 17:38-39.
"38. And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 39. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 40. And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."

Thinking Point:
Concentrate on what you are good at doing, not what someone else is good at.

Every man is designed with skill, talent and profession. We may be practising the same profession but we are gifted in different ways. God called ministers to different ministries and each ministry has its spiritual gifts and fruit. Haunting for someone else's gift is the reason for failure in any endeavour. When you know what you are designed or called to do and identify the tools you need for it, focus on it, that's what God has assigned for you. You can't succeed with other people's tools when you have yours.

King Saul had the best weapon in the history of Israel at that time. He was good at it but couldn't use it against Goliath. David was a boy of seventeen years old who wasn't familiar with the sword. As a matter of fact, Kings Saul's weapon will be too heavy for David to use. He gave David his weapon to use against Goliath but listen to what David said, "And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them."

Meaning, "I'm not used to it". "It's not my weapon". Don't focus on what others have, focus on what you have. Stop carrying others weapons, use the weapon you are familiar with.

Let's see what David did, "And he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag".
That was what he has proven. That's what he is comfortable with. Listen to me, there's room for development but not when you haven't proved it. Not when you are not used to it. Recognise the tools in your hand, keep using it and when technology changes, change with it and retrain yourself on that too. David never made use of a sling after defeating Goliath, he started using a sword. But for now, use what you are familiar with. Start in that field of your specialty. It may not be yielding for now but one day, you will use it to kill that Goliath that will announce you to your word. Use what you are comfortable with until you acquire new knowledge in that area or calling.

Good morning, and God bless you.
