And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand."
Thinking Point:
Asking for help or assistance isn't a crime but not asking is a destiny killer.
I welcome you all to this new series as we will be discussing "Asking, Seeking and Knocking". It promises to be an enlightening moment in Jesus' name, Amen.
Let me start by saying, asking for help, assistance isn't a crime. No one makes it in life without asking rightly at one point or the other. Asking is a way of saying "I need assistance". Asking or explaining your situation to people you've been a blessing to or those who can be of help is a way of finding solutions to one's challenges. Jesus said we should Ask, Seek and Knock (Matthew 7:7). What you let people know about you is what they can help you with. Not telling people is shutting the door of help against one's self.
Joseph opened up his helplessness after helping Butler with the interpretation of his dream. He made it known that he also needs help.
"14. But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: 15. For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon." - Genesis 40:14-15
Asking for assistance shouldn't be seen as begging or weakness because everyone will need to ask at one time or the other. Asking for direction, assistance or one's need to be met doesn't depend on level, age, gender or position, it can be from anyone at any point in time.
Jesus asks His disciples, "How much bread do you have?" Luke 8:5. Nobody is an island, we can't do without others. During creation, God beaconed on His subordinates, "And God said, let us make a man in our image..." Genesis 1:26-27. If you own a company, then you need men to help you. Asking for help isn't a crime but a principle to live a fulfilled life.
Yes, not everyone you open up to will help you but don't be silent, speak out, you don't know who will be of help to you. That person you helped may also be your helper. Don't be ashamed of asking for help especially when you deserve it. Speak to people after helping them. Speak to those in high places because Jesus said,
"8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. - Matthew 7:8.
So everyone who asks will eventually receive although it may not be instant but keep asking.
Above all let your request be placed before God because what God will not give you nobody will release it to you. Ask God for all your needs, present it in Jesus's name even before telling men, tell it to God, Jesus said,
"24. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. -John 16:24.
For our Joy to be full we need to ask God for everything in the name of Jesus before presenting it to man. Keep asking until you receive but don't let your asking be a burden on others.
Good morning, and God bless you.
