Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 39, Day 7, Saturday, 27th September, 2025 TOPIC: WHY LACK OF HELPER?: Giving Excuses (7)

TOPIC: WHY LACK OF HELPER?: Giving Excuses (7)

One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 23 - 24,
Ephesians 4:1 - 16.

MEMORY VERSE:
Psalms 60:11-12.
"11. Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. 12. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies."

BIBLE READING:
John 5:5-8.
"5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk."

Thinking Point:
Our excuses can discourage our helpers from helping us.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done, the last Saturday of September, Faithful God we are grateful.
Are we blessed this week? If yes, we do like to hear from you in our comment section on our blog. We anticipate your responses.

Today, one great hindrance to being helped is our excuses. Many have discouraged their helpers with discouraging words and unbelief. Excuses like, "I'm too old to start all over again". "Have failed more than ten times, so I give up", and so on and so forth have been the responses of many to their helpers. Our helpers do not look like what we need or who can help us until we give them the chance. If you disregard people easily, you might have sent your helpers away unknowingly, this shall not be our portion in Jesus name, Amen.

The impotent man by the market pool called Bethesda in Jerusalem, came in contact with Jesus, the son of God but he didn't recognise Him. If not for the mercy of God he would have missed a one time life changing opportunity. Jesus saw him and knew when he got to the position and was moved with compassion to help him. He asked him, "Wilt thou be made whole?" A very simple question. The man started with an excuse without answering the real question, Yes or No. This is how many of us respond to our helpers, responses that could be discouraging and disrespectful. When we need help why complain or discourage people who volunteered to ask? Why can't we grab the present help even if we are not sure of it. It took Jesus to forcefully command the impotent man to rise on his feet, before he was healed. Many people we look down on are the destiny helpers allocated to us by God. Apostle Peter, in Luke chapter 5, gave Jesus his boat to us as a pulpit, after which Jesus told him to launch out into the deep for a catch. Despite his experience and all his toiling, he concluded, Master art thy word I will launch the net. Many helper have turned away to help someone else when we keep given excuses, complaining and discouraging them. To receive help we have to be open minded and be ready to welcome every opportunity that presents itself. It took the mercy of God for Jesus to heal the impotent man, that mercy will speak for us this month and lead our helpers to us in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
