Thinking Point:
The act of compassion is selflessness without expectation.

Happy weekend to you and your family, may the grace of God upon our lives sustain us till we fulfill our purposes in life in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Our last topic on this series is "The Act of Compassion", ways of showing compassion. First of all, compassion is an act of goodness, kindness, going out of our convenience for others. This act is not about repayment, it's about affecting lives positively. As we all know that wherever compassion is lacking wickedness will reign, so for lives to be better it is best lived with compassion. Compassion is selflessness and lifting others without segregation.

The Samaritan man in Jesus' parable shows us the act of compassion. The first act was to reach out to the robbed man. If you don't go close to others you can't know their troubles. He gave him First aid attention by cleaning the wounds. Compassion always reveals the help you can render. Then he took him to a nearby hospital for proper treatment. All these must have affected his personal plans for the day, but he saw the robbed man as a neighbour who needed his attention and he obliged without complaint. He cleared his bills and promised to balance it up when he returned.

Beloved, what else will such a neighbour pray for? Being a neighbour goes beyond talking, laughing and mocking others to healing and mending wounds, and attending to problems without request. To be a neighbour you will have to use your resources to change lives, by paying for children's school fees, feed some, cloth some, house some and help some in getting a job.

Recently, I saw a video on Facebook posted by one of our legendary singers, Frank Edward. On his way to the airport he overheard one of the airport cleaners speaking to herself, "Let me finish this work and pay for the children's school fees then i would know we are left with feeding", He heard her loud and clear. He felt the woman's pain. Then, he stopped his car and called the woman. He asked her what she said, the woman never knew she was heard. Frank Edward asked how much was the children's school fee? How many children did she have? Then asked for her account and cleared all the bills with extra cash. He said to the woman, "The God you were paying to said I should respond to your prayer" and the woman was weeping.

That is what a neighbour should do. Burden was lifted, stress was healed and joy took over her plight. It doesn't matter how much we have but an act can go far. You may not have the money but a little connection here and there. How far can you go for that neighbour of yours? Are you not mocking instead of helping out? Are you not calling them names instead of giving them a reason to live? How many lives have you lifted from a down casting moment? Do to others what you would like them to do to you according to Matthew 7:12. Be a good neighbour with a difference, let your light shine through others lives.

God Bless you and Good Morning.
