TOPIC: HOW TO START: Start with What You Know (3)

One Year Bible Reading:
Nehemiah 9 - 10
Acts 13 : 13 - 52

MEMORY VERSE:
Colossians 3:23-2. (KJV)
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

BIBLE READING:
Matthew 25:16.
“Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.”

Thinking Point:
Starting With What You Know supersedes starting anyhow or competing.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 KJV. Joy is a choice, not a condition. Be joyful no matter what.

Starting is the beginning of every change you want in life. To determine to start is the key to birth a new story. God decided to create heaven and earth. He knew what He was capable of, He started, and here we are today. You must know what you are capable of and start doing it.

We’ve already seen that a new start requires two things: “Start Where You Are” and “Start With What You Have.”

Today we progress to the next step: “Start With What You Know.” When you discover what you have, the next step is to begin with what you can handle right now.

If you see someone doing what you have and doing well, don’t be afraid. Start with what you know, not with what they are doing. What you can do at your level is the key to your growth, not copying others.

Let me explain. You discover you are a good cook, even better than those who call themselves chefs. Don’t rush. Start with what you know: rice and dodo, beans and fish, a little swallow. Don’t go for intercontinental dishes at the start if you don’t have clients for it yet. Sell yourself gradually. Don’t be too forward.

It’s like an exam hall: you attempt the questions you know first, not the ones you have no idea about. Don’t waste time on what you don’t know. Go for what you know well.

Isaac is our example. When he realized he knew how to farm in Gerar and the land could sustain him, he started little by little and moved steadily:

“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great.” Genesis 26:12-13 KJV.

He started with farming, what he knew, and received a hundredfold the same year. When you start with what you know, increase comes. Then you move forward and grow until you become great.

Starting with what you know is the secret to growth. Don’t imitate others. Don’t choke yourself with what you cannot handle at once. Start with what you know, then grow into what you are learning gradually.

The servant with five talents started with what he knew how to do, and the result was multiplication. Then he received one more talent, and he kept growing until he became greater. Focus on what you know, not on what others are doing.

God bless you and Good Morning.
