TOPIC: Faith On The Road: Patience Without Complaining (2)
One Year Bible Reading:
2 Chronicles 33 - 34
Acts 8:9 - 40
MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 11:1.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
BIBLE READING:
Luke 8:43-46.
“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,”
“Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.”
“And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?”
“And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.”
Thinking Point:
Patience Is An Important Virtue To Cultivate While Walking With God
May the Spirit of the Lord that keeps from falling rest and abide with us all. May He lead us to fulfill God’s purpose for our destiny in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
“Faith On The Road” is our focus, and we started by looking at the humility of Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue, who humbled himself to seek Jesus for the healing of his daughter. We concluded that humility is a virtue that enhances faith in the life of a believer.
Today we focus on another virtue in the same man who was anxious to lead Jesus home for his daughter’s healing. Jesus was following Jairus when something happened along the way. A woman with the issue of blood, suffering for 12 years, delayed Jesus’ journey to Jairus’ house. Jesus stopped and asked, “Who touched Me?” Luke 8:45. It looked like an embarrassing interruption while the crowd was pressing on Him. But Jairus stayed with Jesus. He never complained, was not in haste to force Jesus to continue the journey. He patiently followed the process. In that moment, he did not feel rejected, left alone, or seen as a nobody by Jesus. He simply waited patiently to see what was happening.
Many times, even with our faith and God’s word, we need to be patient with God as He delivers the promises He gave us. We have faith. He has given us His word to go with us. But we must walk with Him patiently to see those processes come to pass. We don’t need to be more eager than the One leading us. We have to allow Him to do things His way.
When He says, “I am coming,” most times it is not according to our timing but His. We need to apply humility and patience to our faith in order to get the best of God for our lives.
Jairus never complained. He patiently watched the situation, and he saw how it ended. The delay from God’s side is not a waste of time. It is a process to learn patience with God. While Jairus was waiting, his faith was increased as he saw a woman receive her healing on the way. Jairus became more confident of the miracle he was expecting from Jesus.
Jesus has promised to be with us, and He is. But we need to exercise patience to receive our promises. Learn to be patient with God while walking with Him. It may take longer, but He will surely deliver as He promised. Be patient.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
