Romans 14: 1 - 23 - 15: 1 - 4

BIBLE READING:

“And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.”
Thinking Point:
“It Is Well” means, “I believe all things are working for my good.”
No matter the situation we may be going through right now, I decree: it shall be well. We will celebrate over it, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
Our focus hymn today is “It Is Well With My Soul” written by Horatio Spafford. It’s powerful because it wasn’t written from theory. It was written from real grief.
1. When peace like a river, attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul
[Reframe]
It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul
2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let this blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul!.
It Is Well With My Soul” is one of the most loved hymns in the world. It’s about peace in the middle of pain.
Horatio was a successful lawyer and businessman in Chicago. In 1871, the Great Chicago Fire wiped out most of his property.
Two years later, he sent his wife Anna and 4 daughters on a ship to Europe ahead of him. The ship collided with another ship and sank. All 4 of his daughters died. 226 people died. His wife survived and sent him a telegram that simply said: “Saved alone.”
While sailing to meet his wife, the ship captain pointed out the spot in the Atlantic where his daughters had drowned. It was there that Horatio wrote the words to “It Is Well With My Soul.”
Following Jesus doesn’t stop us from facing challenges or difficult situations. As a matter of fact, God allows temptations to come our way, but only according to what we can bear. — 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Despite the suffering and losses he went through, Horatio still surrendered to God’s will by saying, “It is well with my soul.”
The Shunammite woman in the days of Elisha was barren for a long time. After she blessed Prophet Elisha, God blessed her womb with a child. Later, the child died. But with faith in her heart, she told her husband, “All Is Well” even when it wasn’t. That’s faith. And in the end, it was well because her child was restored back to life. — 2 Kings 4:26
Can we make the sentence, “It Is Well With My Soul” a daily statement? God is aware of all our challenges, just like He was with Job in his days. It shall be well with us all, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
God bless you and Good Morning.
