One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 82 - 84
Romans 11:25 - 36
MEMORY VERSE:
Ephesians 5:19.
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
BIBLE READING:
Proverbs 3:5-6.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Thinking Point:
Faith is simply trusting and obeying God’s instructions daily.
This week will answer to our calls. It will yield to our requests. Doors for greatness will be opened, and our trust in God will be a testimony to others, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
Today, our focus hymn is “Trust And Obey” written by John H. Sammis.
“Trust and Obey” reminds us that blessings, peace, and God’s presence are not found in striving harder, but in trusting God fully and obeying Him immediately.
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
[Refrain]
John H. Sammis was a pastor. One day while ministering, a woman in his church was struggling with a decision. She kept asking, “What should I do?” and he told her: “Just trust and obey.”
That phrase stayed with him. That same week he wrote the hymn to teach that there is no other way to be happy in Jesus except to trust and obey.
The message is simple: stop worrying, stop arguing, just trust God and obey His Word. When we walk with the Lord according to His Word, we enjoy His glory and His presence by trusting and obeying Him.
Verse 2 reminds us that God rewards our toiling and obedience, not our burdens and sorrows. It is our trust in Him that He blesses.
Verse 3 teaches that we cannot truly value His love, His favor, and His joy until we trust in Him.
Verse 4 says that as we fellowship with Him, we will be able to do what He says with ease — but it is all by trusting and obeying Him.
Chorus: “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
Beloved, nothing is too hard for God to do. The only thing that hinders Him is our lack of trust and obedience to His Word. If we will do according to His Word without questioning, we will enjoy the best He has for us. Trust His Word concerning the issues before you, and you will end up happy in Jesus.
God bless you and Good Morning.
