TOPIC: Hymn Messages: Give God The Glory (3)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 68 - 69
Romans 7: 1 - 17
MEMORY VERSE:
Ephesians 5:19.
“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
BIBLE READING:
Psalm 103:2
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits”
Thinking Point:
Praising God for all the benefits we enjoyed through the death of Christ.
Today, the reasons for Christ's death over our lives will become visible to all. Men will give glory to God concerning our lives in Jesus mighty name, Amen
Today, we shall be digging into the Hymn titled, “To God Be The Glory” by Fanny J. Crosby.
1. To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
so loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.
2. O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to ev'ry believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3. Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.
The songwriter, Fanny J. Crosby, was blind from infancy but she saw more than many who had sight. Her eyes were on Jesus. That’s why she could write: _“To God be the glory, great things He hath done.”_
This hymn reminds us that our life is not about us. It is about what God has done, is doing, and will still do through Jesus.
God’s love was proven when He gave His Son. Jesus died to pay for our sin and opened the door to eternal life. The first thing to thank God for is our salvation. If you have Jesus, you have everything. If there’s nothing else to make you happy, remember someone gave all He had on our behalf.
The second verse speaks of pardon that is instant. No sin is too big. No past is too dirty. The moment you believe, pardon comes. It was bought with the blood of Jesus. We don’t need to condemn ourselves. What God has forgiven, we should not carry again. We are to walk in the freedom of “perfect redemption”
all by faith in God.
He taught us, He did great things, and He will do greater things still. Our best days are not behind us. Our greatest joy is when we see Jesus face to face. Count today’s testimonies, but also look forward in faith. There is a “purer and higher” glory ahead for you.
The only right response to God’s great things is PRAISE. Praise is not for when everything is perfect. Praise is because of what Jesus has already done.
When we praise, the earth hears, people rejoice, and we draw nearer to the Father.
What is one “great thing” God has done for you that you have not thanked Him for recently? Above all, thank Him for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Then name others and give Him glory.
God bless you and Good Morning.
